Diagnostics and treatment of post-operative neuropathies of trigeminal nerve at its rupture

Abstract
The objective: to study the dynamics of changes in the electrophysiological indices of soft tissues innervated by II and III branches of the trigeminal nerve with incomplete and complete rupture in patients after surgical remove tumors and tumor-like jaw formations; to determine the efficiency of using the hardware-software complex (HSC) «DIN-1» for the treatment of postoperative neuropathies.
Patients and methods. We examined and treated neurological complications in 155 patients after surgical remove of tumors and tumor like formations of the upper and lower jaws on the HSC «DIN-1».
Results. It was proved that the use in the complex treatment of HSC «DIN-1» allowed in 97,4% of cases within 4 months after the operation to achieve recovery of postoperative neuropathies caused by partial (incomplete) rupture of the trigeminal nerve. The use of the HSC «DIN-1» in the complex treatment of patients with neuropathies caused by complete rupture of the branches of the trigeminal nerve allowed to achieve a clinical recovery in 80,6%: in 54,8% of cases – in 6 months and in 25,8% – 1 year after the operation.
Conclusion. The use of the hardware software complex «DIN-1» in patients with neoplasm of the jaws is not only diagnostic and prognostic, but also significantly improves the effectiveness of treatment of patients with postoperative neuropathies of the trigeminal nerve.
