Abstract

28 patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), complicated by anemia were examined. Peculiarities of formation of anemia in women of child bearing age compared with RA patients in the postmenopausal period were shown. The frequency of iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in women of reproductive age with RA was higher than in postmenopausal women with RA. The most likely cause of IDA is menstrual dysfunc tion. The need for therapeutic and preventive measures (iron replace ment, normalization of the menstrual cycle) in these patients by fami ly doctor was justified.
