Keywords:cognitive impairment, Neocardil, cardiovascular diseases, arterial hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia
The objective: the aim of the study was to evaluate the influence of phyto pharmacological preparation Neocardil on cognitive function in patients with cardiovascular risk factors at out patient stage.
Patients and methods. Еvaluation of Neocardil efficacy was made during 2 months in 2 group of patients. Each group included 100 patients with such cardiovascular risk factors as hypertension, diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemia. Patients of first group received Neocardil during 2 months and was consulted about hypoglycemic, hypolipi demic diet and physical activity for 30 minutes a day during 3 months. Patients of second group was only consulted about diets and physical activity without Neocardil admission. Office and ambulatory BP measuring and assessment based on Beck, HARS, HDRS, HAM, MMSE, HeartQol scales was made to all patients. Patients condition evaluated before therapy and on 60 th day of therapy.
Results. More patients in Neocardil group achieved target levels of BP at 140/90 mm Hg. Therapy with Neocardil was associated with significant improvement in orientation, perceptive and gnostic func tion, cumulative general score of cognitive productivity. Prevalence of moderate cognitive impairment in Neocardil group decreased by 60% – from 10% to 4%. Decline in score by anxiety scale HARS, depression scales HADS and Beck was noted. Score by HeartQol scale, reflected patients quality of life, also increased in Neocardil group. By HAM scale increase of scores, reflecting general health, activity and mood, was noted.
Conclusion. Therapy with Neocardil is associated with significant improvement in quality of life, cognitive function, decrease and nor malization of anxiety and depression indexes. Neocardil use is also associated with improvement in target levels of blood pressure achievement.
