Keywords:Irritable bowel syndrome, Guarem, carbohydrate metabolism, metabolic syndrome
AbstractWe have examined 23 patients with the metabolic syndrome and irri table bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS). For correction car bohydrate metabolism and anthropometric indeces and treatment of IBS Guarem in a dose of 10 g/day for 2 months against the back ground of basic therapy was used. Significant reduction of fasting and postprandial glicemia, insulin resistance index HOMA, fruc tosamine, body mass index, waist circumference, waist to hip ratio. We established weakening of IBS symptoms according to an estima tion by visual analogue scale and improvement of the stool quality according to Bristol scale.
